Action without vision is a nightmare." - Japanese proverb I just ran a ½ marathon for the first time in my life! And, I just read 2 interesting statistics---1 in 3 employees are disengaged at work and more than 40% of workers say they are actively considering leaving their current employer. (Watson Wyatt) Stay with me, these are related. Prior to my 13.2 mile decision, I realized I wasn't committed to a higher level of performance for myself. I decided to do it now, before I was unable due to old age or injury. I signed up and began to train. Suddenly it became a focus, with a scheduled routine. I read, learned and talked to people who had great advice. Engaged and motivated, I tapped into a well of energy and inspiration. I saw my performance improved significantly and I finished much better than anticipated. Engagement with a goal made all the difference! Cypress Ridge Solutions, creating real solutions for real people. | | | | | | | In today's challenging economy and strained resources, can you afford to allow 1/3 of your employees to be disengaged and underperforming? Consider also, as the economy improves, nearly half of them would leave if they could and many will. Here are 3 ideas to re-energize and engage your organization and improve performance.
- Have and share the company's vision.
Employees all need to know they are part of something bigger and they contribute to a higher purpose. Do you design software or create solutions offering people more time to do what they love? Are you laying bricks or building castles? Employees need a clear line of sight to the company's business goals and they need to know how they contribute to them. Action: Review, revise and communicate your Vision to everyone.
